The Successful Lawyer

To be successful, a lawyer must have insight into the whole human catastrophe and be able to effectively traverse the legal system. It is the intersection of these two disciplines that fascinate me. I have been a lifelong student of both human nature and the law, and have created this blog to help others following my path.

Success is born from the will to be the best you can be. Many resources are available to help lawyers succeed. Beyond knowing both substantive and procedural law, lawyers must master themselves and their habits. I advocate acquiring the habit of regular study of the art and science of effective communication, the psychology of persuasion, trial advocacy, knowledge management and a variety of other topics to develop the skills necessary to become a high achiever in the practice of law.

On a regular basis I will post articles on these topics, and related topics of interest. I will share books and articles by others that I come across as well. There are no shortcuts to becoming a successful lawyer and no universal prescriptions. Practice excellence requires hard work, an attitude of constant and never ending improvement, mental flexibility and good judgment. I humbly offer my hard earned wisdom (after many battles both won and lost) for those looking to achieve excellence in the practice of family law. achiever in the practice of law.
